"He knows very little about this bottle that’s just been unearthed from the freezer. The only thing he’s sure of… it isn’t his.
He pulls it out with a frown, examining the label. Something expensive, imported. It’s not something he drinks, and he’s sure that Buck doesn’t either. The last time he’d really indulged in something like this was at Chim’s bachelor party when he was already past drunk and the bubbles had felt good dancing against his tongue. He twists the bottle in his hands again, frown deepening."
Or, Eddie finds that bottle of champagne in his freezer that he knows he definitely didn't put there...

Eddie shoves a legal pad and a pen against Buck’s chest. He sits next to Buck, so close their thighs touch.
“Write your contract,” Eddie says.
“Our contract.”
“Such a romantic.”
This isn’t romance, though. But Buck doesn’t want to remind Eddie of that, because he might take the legal pad—or, more importantly, the promise of Buck getting to touch his body—away. So Buck scrawls Buck and Eddie’s Friendship Sex Contract.
Or: Eddie and Buck strike up a friends with benefits arrangement. Every good understanding needs a contract. And a detailed list of likes and dislikes, while they’re at it.

Summary
Before Eddie can think of any more excuses, Buck bursts back through the surface of the water with Eddie’s body in his arms.
Eddie looks down at himself, still kneeling on the dock, and then at what is unmistakably also him in the water. Buck sucks in a great gasp of air, but the Eddie in the water doesn’t. His head slumps limp onto Buck’s shoulder, and the puzzle pieces of the last few minutes suddenly fall into place.
Finding himself back on the dock with no memory of how he got there. Buck unable to see or hear him. Eddie’s hand passing right through him.
Oh. He didn’t make it out of the water. He drowned.
