I would do about anythingMillions Knives is dead, an apple tree to mark his grave. Nai supposes that's a good thing, as he's hurt his brother enough as it is. But bad ideas, a new acquaintance, and a road trip later, and he realizes he might have hurt his brother by leaving, too. And just maybe...if it means he can have the only thing he ever wanted, he can learn to-- if not like them, then live with the humans Vash loves so much.

"I—I don't know how," Wolfwood said desperately. He couldn't reject a holy mission, but what if he failed?
He misses you, she said again, like that was the only answer he should need.Aka, I've always thought Wolfwood needed to die for plot reasons, but he and Vash deserve a second chance.

Summary
For over a century, Vash has kept Knives shut out, refused him the bond they once shared as children. It's for that reason that he knows something is terribly, horrifyingly wrong when Vash's voice spills into his head, calling for help. He is not surprised that it is humans who have once again transgressed against his kind and he vows to never let Vash fall to them again.
However, Vash cannot be left alone and Knives still has plans that need seeing to. Enter Nicholas D. Wolfwood, assassin, Conrad's favored pet project, and Vash's (very temporary) new companion.

Summary
Upon hearing his name being mentioned, the black-clad man merely tips his head in acknowledgement. “And Mr Wolfwood is …?” Vash begins, as if he’s supposed to recognise that strange man with his equally strange-looking crossbow. There’s a hint of a crucifix incorporated seamlessly into its prod and tiller, making the overall design look way bigger than the standard-shaped crossbow weaponry that archers normally wield.
“Hunter,” the man drawls at once. He takes this as a cue to approach them with a laidback gait imbued with the right amount of poise that serves as a warning to the next fool looking for trouble. All at once, Vash knows better not to end up at the receiving end of his bad side. “Nicholas D. Wolfwood, at your service.”

When magicless warlock Vash meets hunter Nicholas D. Wolfwood, he chalks it up as happenstance. It's not every day you meet a guy with the right amount of confidence and the perfect level of aim to take down creatures causing havoc. With werewolves attacking towns at random, Vash supposes it is only wise that they team up.
But everyone else knows the story. After all, is anything with Nicholas D. Wolfwood by chance, ever?
