“I killed him, Sam.”
It went quiet on the call for a beat.
“Killed who?” Sam asked, voice neutral.
“I… I didn’t… I didn’t think I could actually do it. I thought… he would have a plan…” Lena mumbled, staring into Lex’s unmoving eyes as if they were blackholes pulling her in. “He always has a plan.”
“You killed Lex.” Sam said.
“I killed my brother.” Lena corrected quietly, her legs were beginning to ache - she had been sitting on the concrete floor for over an hour now and she was starting to feel the effects but she didn't dare move. There was a childish fear inside of herself that if she moved, Lex would too.

For years Lex seemed to be nothing but an upstanding businessman and humanitarian, until one day he wasn't. It wasn't until it was too late that I realized he might never have been my friend at all. I know you have a hard time accepting the same might be true of Lena, but I don't want you making the same mistake I made.”
Kara took special care in returning her belongings to her bag, careful not to break anything, before taking a deep breath and responding, “I know how you feel about them, Kal, but Lena doesn't read that way to me. Not when I met her, not for the years we were friends, and not now.”
Or
Season 2 if Kara and Lena had met years previously and were friends for years before everything went down between Superman and Lex. Kal and Alex are sure that Lena will eventually follow the same path as Lex, but Kara is convinced that she knows better.

“Shall we team up?” He says. But he’s not talking to Nia, who opens her mouth to answer but doesn’t get the chance to because she’s interrupted by Lena’s little and relieved sigh, followed by a quick yes.
There’s a moment of silence where everyone seems to catch up to the idea. Kelly raises her eyebrows. Alex’s drink stops midway to her mouth. Nia is frowning, looking confused between the two. And Kara knows she’s got her mouth open- because she was about to ask Lena the same question, and she’s just as confused and disappointed as Nia looks right now.
