Summary
Everything was silent. Shen Jiu has killed before but it was never so eerily quiet. When he killed Qiu Jianluo the chatter of the servants outside could be heard through the window, later when he was after their lives their screams drowned out the silence. When he killed Wu Yanzi there was a commotion around them and Qi-ge was talking to him. It was nothing like this horrible, suffocating silence that descended upon them.

“That is a fox,” Barbatos points out rather uselessly the moment he steps foot inside Zhongli’s luxurious home. “You have a fox.”
Zhongli looks down at the adorable but wriggly (and hissy) mass of orange fur in his arms that he’s been trying to calm for the past hour. “Indeed. I have a fox.”
“Why do you have a fox?”
The fox tries to twist out of his grasp with an angry snap of its little jaw. Zhongli merely tightens his hold and ignores its very cute yips of protest. “I found him wandering the streets of Liyue Harbour, lost. I thought it prudent to bring him home in case he got hurt.”
