Anywhere from 6 PM to midnight, Al-Haitham would come home to their shared apartment, trudging through the door and removing his shoes and outer garments with the efficiency of someone following a years old routine.
Kaveh would watch from the door to their kitchen, hand him a plate of food with a smirk that hid actual care, and would sit with him at their dining table, bantering into the wee hours of the morning.
But one evening, Kaveh waits. And Al-Haitham does not return home.

I’ve never thought of you any differently; I want to make that clear. You’re Keith no matter who you come from or what you are. Okay?”
Keith nods. “Okay.”
“You’re Keith.” He points at Keith directly now as he looks at him. “You’re the Red Paladin. You’re my friend and my teammate. I’d kick dream-Lance’s butt if I could, you know.”
Keith takes a seat next to Lance with a chuckle. “Thanks, I guess.”
Both Keith and Lance have nightmares. Luckily, they can go to each other for help.
