Tommy stares at the list for outside options until his eyes blur but. Nope, Evan’s name is still there on the transfer list, open for filling the gaping hole in…Tommy’s schedule.
Finally fills Evan's name into the empty shift slots, stares at it for a while longer and then bites the bullet. Prints the transfer request and takes it and the schedule over to Melton and slides them in front of him.
Melton reads them and then looks up at Tommy, eyebrow raised. "You want to work with your ex?"

By dawn there’s a statement from the chief’s office, announcing the successful rescue of the survivors of the Uno, without mentioning the 118 or Kinard. In fact it sounds like it was Chief Simpson’s plan all along.
Crisis averted, Melton thinks. Nobody is getting fired, and everything is going back to normal now.
Except that things do not go back to normal, because Kinard starts dating Buckley from the 118. Melton honestly doesn’t care about break room gossip or the LAFD rumor mill, but Buckley is kind of famous, and apparently his special brand of chaos is contagious.

Tommy pats him on the back but he's still staring right at Buck, looking as stunned as Buck feels. Chimney lets him go with a friendly slap on the shoulder.
"This is Eddie Diaz," Chimney starts, pointing to Eddie on his left side, then he points to the other side. "And this is-"
"Evan," Tommy breathes out, he swallows and Buck can see his Adam's apple bop. He's still ridiculously hot.
