She plays mindlessly with a small silver band on her finger. Ajax doesn’t have the energy to be surprised at such a blatant admission of her own humanism, but he knows that no un-human collects and raises a house full of orphans, even ones destined to become soldier stock; it makes sense that she would long to be with them. He knows that this is a weakness they share, this human-ness, and that the Dotorres and Capitanos of the world are where they are because they’ve gutted themselves of this weakness, or were simply never shackled with it at all. Ajax, for all he’s tried before, for all the Abyss has tried to pull it out of him, cannot.
