Andy cracked his eyes open. Turned his head. There, on the dashboard, it read:
Now Playing: عمرو دياب - وياه
He didn’t understand it, but the singers voice was familiar. He must be popular in Egypt, Andy thought to himself, looking back at the Egyptian next to him.
Mo’s hands were relaxed on the wheel. He sang like someone remembering a song from childhood. Something about the tone, the cadence. it reminded Andy of rain on windowpanes, of sitting in the back of his mum’s car as a kid and pretending the world couldn’t touch him.
The tension in his chest loosened. Not all the way. But a little. The tension in the car did, too. Something clearly had softened.Bookmarked by Bombon
