My name is June Carver and, for the most part, I am your average thirteen-year-old. Despite the ADHD and dyslexia, I am your average student who hates school, loves recess, and would die for a cellphone. Nothing more to it. Or at least, that is the narrative my mom has been trying to force on everyone since I was born.
The truth is that I know I'm not normal. In reality, there is nothing normal or average about me. I see things that others don't and I turn water into wine more often than not, which is surely a precursor to adult alcoholism. I joke to my mom that I might be the next Jesus, a Messiah or something, the spawn of God. She never laughs, though - just stares at me in mute shock.
Oh, and as of the last three nights, I've been waking up in my bed, suspended from the ceiling by grapevines. At first, I thought it was fun - waking up in a floating bed and all. But I will say, it's becoming a bit of a hassle.
The thing is, though, that I have no idea how to stop all this - or if I can.
