The "War of Ages" is over with all of Alcenta bearing the scars. In the aftermath of this devastating conflict, a small, complicated family of Slugcats find their way through life. Haunted by the past, uncertain about the future, and struggling to find a place in a vastly different world, this is much easier said than done. But the Ackerson's are a resilient family and the future awaits. The answer to the ancient question of "what fate?" does not lie in the battlefields of the past or some grand design beyond mortal comprehension. Instead the answer lies in the simple things of family life that make up the daily life of the Ackerson's. Every day brings the future ever closer and puts the turbulent past to rest.
