Getting out of Malivore was just the first step, dealing with the trauma of it was something else entirely. Trapped in her own head and covered in remnants of the monsters of the pit, Hope is found by the Saltzman family, who take in this lost supernatural girl and attempt to figure out her origins and how to help her.Or: A more realistic take on Hope's experience during and post-Malivore swan dive. Being in isolation and darkness for five months does not lead to a quick bounce back within a week. Especially since we watched her have a breakdown during a head dive into a simulation of Malivore for a few hours at most.

Rumi dragged a hand down her face. She hadn’t even meant to hide this.
Not like she’d hidden the patterns. It just hadn’t come up, and she was a private person anyway, and she wasn’t just going to bring it up out of nowhere. Besides, hiding the patterns had made it easy. The hoodies, the bathhouse, the carefully designed costumes…they all worked for more than one thing.
She didn’t want to miss Zoey and Mira anymore. Sure, they’d always have their own things. That was obvious. But she wanted to be part of their lives again. Wanted them to be part of hers.
