“You should never have come back, Robert,” he says, low and dangerous. There’s alpha tones threading through his words, but Robert’s always been good at ignoring that. It’s probably why his jaw is still aching, all things considered.

“Look, maybe I should go talk to him,” Robert says with a sigh as he lifts one hand up to rub his fingers against his forehead. Aaron bites his lip, and feels his jaw twitch, his fingers curl into a fist at his side.
“Robert – ”
“Just talkin’ Aaron.” Robert cuts him off, holding up one hand placatingly. “He’s not – he’s not gonna do anythin’.”
