There’s a pleasant warmth on the back of her neck when he tries to sneak up on her on patrol—she’ll pretend to be surprised just so she can revel in his pleased little smile. Her stomach feels fluttery and restless when he brushes the hair out of her eyes or bumps her hip with his own.
It’s her new normal. The giddiness of seeing his goofy face, the urge to run her fingers through his soft hair, the blush that heats her cheeks when he teases her about something a little too close to the truth.
