Summary
Nick was a little more than nervous when his mum pulled up to the Daffodil Clinic and put the car in park. Nick was staring at the building, trying to squash down the sudden influx of nervous energy he was feeling. The building looked far more scary then it had any right to be, he’d been in there before, he knew what was waiting on the other side this time.
It was just Charlie, his Charlie, everything would be fine.
But everything wasn’t fine and this was the first time Nick would be seeing Charlie alone and he still wasn’t better better yet. Things were still so up in the air and unsure and what if him being there didn’t help -
“It’s alright, Nicky,” his mum said, reaching out to touch his arm and breaking through the panic. “Do you want me to come in with you?”

Summary
This feels important. This feels less like talking Chase out of a bad decision and more like yanking gold out of Tecton’s guts to jumpstart the healing process. It’s more like talking someone off of a ledge. Maybe Chase. Maybe himself.
Chase finally meets his gaze. His expression is a mixture of frightened vulnerability and a desperate longing to believe.
Something shifts inside Kaz then, a misaligned cog catching its gear and beginning to spin again

Try as he might, Charlie couldn’t quite quell his nerves.
He bit at his thumb nail, which was already bitten down more than enough. He pulled his hand away from his mouth, shaking his head slightly as he walked up to the office doors. He’d been inside the building a handful of times now, twice for interviews, and once for his orientation day, but he still checked the sign on the door, making sure he had the right address.
He’d also looked it up on Google maps again too, just in case he somehow forgot the directions. He was well aware of how stupid it might be for him to worry so much but it was his first official full day of work, he couldn’t afford to be late because he somehow forgot what building he was going into. He was also incredibly aware he was catastrophizing but therapy also taught him it was fine to catastrophize, as long as he knew that’s what it was.
He was fine, nothing was going to happen to him, he just had to keep that in mind.
(Or Charlie and Nick are living together in domestic bliss, but when Charlie starts a new job and Geoff retires, he finds himself struggling to stay on track.)
