“We can’t just leave him here to die.”
“He’s an emissary, Scott.” Derek tried to make his tone empathetic, but Scott’s tendency to fight back on everything always grated on his nerves. “His pack is gone, he won’t survive more than a day or two either way.”
“Then we should stay with him.”
Derek sighed as he studied the man for a moment; he was too pale against the fur rim of his hood, almost grey from lying out in the snow, and his cloak was stained with dark dried blood around a protruding arrow shaft. It was unlikely he would even last the night. They would probably be able to carry on in the morning with little time lost, if any.
It wasn’t a horrible idea, Derek decided reluctantly. They hadn’t been able to set up a real camp for a few weeks in the open foothills, and they were all on edge from sleeping in exposed areas. A defensible place to sleep would be good for them, even if they were surrounded by death. They would be able to give the pack proper burials, at the very least.
“Fine. One night,” Derek relented, already moving away to check on Isaac. “He’s your responsibility.”

Summary
Erica sets Stiles up on a blind date but the mysterious beau never shows up. Butthurt about it and definitely insecure about himself; Stiles absolutely refuses to talk to the infamous Derek Hale when they meet by chance at a party some time later.
They keep running into each other afterwards, and it slowly becomes clear that Derek never meant to hurt Stiles' feelings. He simply needs to deal with his own issues, namely: his older sister moving out of their family home to start a life with her partner, the suspicious Lydia Martin.
Against all odds, they might get to know each other after all and maybe, figure out whether they’re meant to be together or too messed up to find their special someone.

Who would’ve thought a big, famous superhero like El Lobo would be such a stickler for manners? That scowl he’s got going on, the one intensely focused in Stiles’ direction. It must be because Stiles didn’t say thank you fast enough for the whole, you know, life-saving thing.
“You’re an idiot,” El Lobo says, and, what?
“Hey!” Stiles splutters indignantly. “That’s not a very heroic thing to say.”

“Probably because we treat her right,” Boyd insisted, giving him a look.
“Again, not my fault,” Stiles argued. “But I will let you berate me to your heart’s content as long as you help fix her so she doesn’t leave me stranded in the boonies.”
“This whole fucking town is the God damn boonies,” Derek said angrily. Stiles wondered if he had any other settings.
So far he’d learned confusion and anger. He hoped there was a happy setting in there somewhere.
Boyd’s gaze cut briefly to Derek, then back to Stiles. “I see you’ve met Derek.”
“Oh yeah. We are now very close friends,” Stiles said, turning to grin at the Alpha.
He didn’t look impressed. Also like he was trying to figure out which parts of Stiles were the squishiest and easiest to eat through. That was concerning, he didn’t like that.
