In a world where Sgrub never happened, seven-sweep-old Karkat is left to pick up the pieces of Feferi and Eridan's disaster of a break-up. Some cute, sad, angsty fluff, because I have a horrible addiction to making Eridan cry and Karkat is always the one to deal with it. Rated T for canon-typical swearing.

[paraphrased] "The imperial drones come for Karkat, his blood color having been exposed to the empire somehow. Of all the trolls to come to his rescue, it’s Eridan. Eridan goes toe-to-toe with a drone to make them back off, but Karkat doesn’t know this and, having never met Eridan face-to-face, is confronted with the terrifying view of a pissed off seadweller bursting into his hive and forcefully escorting him to his own hive. Thing is, Karkat has absolutely no idea who he is, why he has been taken to somebody else’s hive, and Eridan doesn’t realize that Karkat is freaking the fuck out."(The "Rape/Non-Con" warning is more of a precaution. There is no actual rape, but it is a close thing, so I figured it would be better to err on the side of caution.)

Unfortunately, the other 999 turned out to have prior commitments, and Rose finds herself attempting practicality and resourcefulness under extremely trying circumstances while dealing with an obnoxious purple troll's ongoing commentary.
Part of the Ampora H/C On Demand series, which for convenience's sake I'm going to file under HHCOD. Request was for Eridan and one of the human kids in a survival situation, complete with as many clichés as I pleased.

You've got more of a red thing going on with him, more of a black one going with Karkat, and you sort of favor the red on accident. You can't help it. The color is just so perfect and it reminds you of your Vantases. Your little mutants.
And they are little in height. Not by much in comparison to you, but just enough to give you that bit of edge you need to convince them to do something for you.

A bit of a whataboutism.
Eridan happens across Feferi and Sollux out and about one day. Both are understandably wary, seeing as the last time he interrupted one of their dates he blinded one of them and killed the other, as well as dooming their species out of spite after the fact - but Eridan isn't here with an agenda this time.
After all, he's been trying what the humans call "therapy," and while he didn't appreciate being called entitled, eventually he did have to acknowledge that he was messed up in a lot of ways, and having a lot of his fears and upsets validated strangely helped. He never expected a human to understand or be able to help him, but strangely, they did.
