In the wild, when animals, non-anthropomorphic animals got sick, they didn’t wait around and tell everyone, letting them watch them slowly fade away. They go off in the bushes and hide until the time comes. Their pack doesn’t realize what’s happened to them. They don’t have to go through the pain of seeing their loved one sick and not being able to do anything.
They would remember their family member when they were happy and healthy.
And Tails had to do the same for Sonic.Or.
Tails thinks he’s going to die so he runs away so Sonic doesn’t have to see it.
