In January 1963 Mal Evans punched the windscreen out in the Beatles van because it was too cracked to see through. The Beatles lay on top of one another in the back for warmth. In interviews, Paul has cheerfully described the result as a "Beatles Sandwich".
Four months later, according to restaurateur Charles Finch, the Beatles played a joke on a chambermaid. They surprised her by all being in one bed.
