Maybe if he had been a doctor, he wouldn't be scraping his sensationless steel fingertips across the markings. Unfortunately sentimentality wasn't as discardable as his skin had been, he couldn't shed it for convenience and a state of higher being. That's how he would later justify unclasping the holds to his face plate to expose the few soft parts of him left, pressing his lips to the cold unyielding memorial in a paradoxically soft kiss. This was how Jayce must have felt, searching for the warmth and humanity in something rigored and unresponsive. Had Viktor been any less of a machine, he might have been able to spare the kindness to let him live on without that hope.

Viktor removed an earbud from his ear, and glanced at the tall figure standing over him. He hadn’t realized how loud he had been listening to his music until he took it out, the heavy instruments filling the quiet space.
What he also didn’t realize, is that nobody else was in the library. A quick glance around confirmed the man’s words. It was just the two of them.

So when, one night, when Steve’s already dizzy and touch-warm against Eddie’s mouth, when Eddie’s hand snakes down Steve’s side to cup the curve of Steve’s ass, when Eddie asks, a little winded, “Wanna try something else?”
