“Would you be upset if I asked to keep this a secret for now?”
A relieved breath leaves the older man and he uses the hand on Buck’s thigh to give him a gentle, reassuring, squeeze, “Honestly, I was hoping the same thing. Just until we’re ready.”
“Yeah, just until we’re ready.” This doesn’t ease the nervousness in Buck’s voice as he speaks, but Eddie looks past it, the man just died, again, the other night, and started a new relationship, that all has to be stressful for him.
Or Buck and Eddie get together and decide to keep it a secret, there's nothing that could go wrong with that, right?

Eddie took the moment to observe his friend, he wore a maroon shirt that pulled at the buttons on his chest when he stretched his arms too far and a pair of black jeans that hugged the curves of his thighs. His well-put-together look was a stark contrast to Eddie's own sleep-ruffled appearance. There was still a roughness to Buck, his usually gelled back curls were sprawled across his forehead, and he smelled faintly of beer and sweat. “You look good. Were you at the bar?”

Summary
Evan Buckley has worked a multitude of jobs since moving away from Pennsylvania, picking up whatever odd jobs he could. Until a few years ago when he took up bartending. It was there that he was convinced to move to Los Angeles. He spent years at the same bartending job in Santa Monica before deciding to become a Firefighter, and only a week away from completing his training, the events of the tsunami happened.
