But what if that version of history records was proved wrong, almost right after the Fall of Gondolin, thanks to the Halls of Mandos being in Valinor, while Idril was still stuck in Middle-earth for the next 15 years?
By the other slaves in Angband who had died and entered the Halls, and knew what Sauron and Morgoth likely did to drag that information out of Maeglin?
Answer: Idril and the rest of the surviving Gondolindrim coming off as the nasty ones, and those who died in the Fall, having to face that there is two sides of a coin/story as well their own threatment of Maeglin
And one very, very upset Anaire about what her grandson is being painted as, by his own cousin.
