There was no questions about Abaddon's gender to begin with, hell, when he explained the way he was strapped to the vessel, it was implied he was attached to a little boy.

    Abaddon possesses a little girl but presents himself as a girl to deal with misogyny in the pat centuries and decades he's lived through.

    This is a terrible summary, but basically Aiden runs off after a fight with his parents, and ends up being out later than he originally planned. They end up seeing each other at midnight, but they all knew he was gone, and were worried.
