Larry Russell, the son of one of New York's richest men, is newly home from Harvard, determined to make his own way in the world — and have more than a little fun while he’s at it. When he becomes friends with the prettiest young widow he's ever met (Larry likes widows), he thinks she might be open to (a lot) more than friendship. Turns out this was a major mistake.
After getting off (...or not) on the wrong foot, they keep bumping into each other, gradually becoming friends...and then falling in love. Too bad Larry's sleeping with the wrong widow & Marian's being courted by Tom Raikes.

Summary
The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
Kate Sharma, struggling actress, is certain this must be the case. All she was trying to do was save a man's life. She did not ask to become comatose Benedict Bridgerton's (pretend) wife for an advantage she needs with a desperation she detests.
It does not help that she has met perhaps the most aggravating attractive person she's ever known in Benedict's eldest brother.
Anthony Bridgerton knows he's made mistakes, the worst of which was not understanding the love his brother had for an impoverished maid, Sophie Beckett. He is, however, sure of one thing.
There is no way on god's green earth that the woman who saved Benedict's life is Sophie and he will not rest till he's proven that the woman taking his brother's wife's place is an imposter.
How else is he supposed to explain away the pull he feels towards her?
