He groaned. “Why must you—” he stopped, huffing. Bluffing, but not really. Playing it like he was, acting like he wasn’t thinking about Alhaitham’s mouth on him. Acting like he was innocent, when he’s anything but. To his credit—and Alhaitham will give credit where credit is due, do not get him wrong—, Kaveh did admit, “I think I’d like that, one day.”
And, well. The next day just happened to be that one day.
Alhaitham is many things, and being a man of his word just happens to be one of them. When Kaveh popped the question (no, not that one), Alhaitham had his answer as fast as the words left Kaveh's lips.
Still. That didn't mean he didn't have to make Kaveh squirm, first. He can squirm in other ways later. (Jitterbug!)

Summary
Alone in a research center, surrounded by books and stacks of notes, Alhaitham and Kaveh break ground together.
Kaveh urges himself to relax, but his heart quakes in his chest. Instead of feeling Alhaitham’s lips, he feels the weight of where they’re going to land, speeding closer, closer, closer.
Alhaitham pulls back, nudging his nose against Kaveh’s. “Are you still thinking about research?”
“N-no,” Kaveh says. “I—I’m thinking about you, obviously. Or, I mean, us. And…” He swallows and takes another shaky breath. “This.”
“This,” Alhaitham repeats, his fingers tracing a circle over the loose shirt that covers Kaveh’s hip.
