Phainon asks the question more out of filling the silence than to actually gain an answer.
“That’s—” Mydei chokes on his words, stammering for a response, trying to rack his brain for anything that wouldn’t cause him to sound either desperate or pathetic.
“Were you using this, Mydei?” Phainon questions, his voice steady and slow. “Whilst I was gone? Did you miss me that much?”
Or in which Phainon leaves for a mission, and comes back to a rather surprising scene.

Mydei scoffed, his gaze hardening. Phainon watched the familiar defensive wall slam into place. “That. That is mine. Put it down.”
Unbelievable. Phainon was there, ready, more than willing to make Mydei come hard enough to see stars, and the crown prince still kept toys around?
