"was I scary?" will gulped as he said it. fear evident in his eyes. the eyes that mike found so grounding.
scary? will thought he was scary? the idea hit mike like a bruise blooming beneath the skin, a quiet ache that sank deep into his chest. how could will ever believe that about himself? he pictured him in flashes; will with his quiet bravery, will who had been torn apart and still kept going, will who had saved him, saved all of them, not with force but with that strange, gentle strength that lived in him like a pulse. to mike, will wasn’t something frightening; he was something luminous. something that had survived the dark and somehow come out glowing.
mike offered a soft smile. "scary? no, no will.."

If Kakashi isn’t in any real danger Minato has no reason to worry, but Kakashi is the only one of his students still alive and he can’t help feeling responsible for every time he gets hurt on a mission. It’s ridiculous, Kakashi is an Anbu, he’s a jonin and he’s more than capable of defending himself and being responsible for himself, but still he’s just a child, or teenager as Kakashi would argue, and Minato is pretty much the only adult present in the boy’s life.
