Destiny often proves inscrutable in its plans, and fickle in its affections. Frightening. Cruel. At the end of all things, immutable. Ironic that those who follow it closest are the ones who despise it most.
In her darkest hour, Golden Cheese is thrown a lifeline by the unlikeliest of heroes. Otherwise faced with an unfortunate lack of options, she accepts it. It leads her away from her intended demise and into a future - or past, rather - inhabited by oddly friendly strangers, haunted by a peace and optimism she thought long dead, and led by a man who is agonizingly familiar in both his appearance and his need to invade her space in all ways and at all times. A Virtue, he says he is. One that wants to help her. To get to know her. How can this be? He wanted her head on a pike just a minute ago. Who is this? Where is she? What is going on?
While she struggles to brave this great uncertainty, elsewhere, a predator starves, prowls the world, desperate to find and devour his lost prey. Where she went, how she escaped him, he does not know. But it does not matter. He will have her. He must. All the waiting he's endured... He must have her. His other half. His little bird. She can't hide forever. Destiny is waiting.
