It still hurt, even after two years. Two years since Ingo’s disappearance, his vanishing, his seemingly popping out of existence with not a trace left behind except his poké balls. Two years of missing posters, news reports, headlines, police interviews, investigations, nightmares, long nights, sobbing, pleading, loneliness, not knowing…
Ingo was gone And not one person knew why.
You and Emmet never stopped looking, even when everyone else gave up around you. But it was hard. You still had to work, you still had to live, you had to weather looks of pity and never-ending comments of “I’m sorry for your loss” when you didn’t even know if he was dead.
But Ingo wouldn’t give up.
So neither would you.

Summary
The notepad in front of you remained infuriatingly blank, mocking you with its wide open lines that seemed to scream off the page – bright white under the room’s lights, free to blind you without ink to blot them out. There was nothing. Nada. Zilch. Just like your life force, draining away, set to disappear completely unless you could conjure up the ideas necessary to fill the small paper and bring to life in the physical realm.
Your brain provided nothing yet again. Your head might as well be filled with concrete.
You didn’t know what to get Ingo for Winter Wishes.

You knew you were in trouble the first time you caught yourself smiling like an doofus. It was clear which one you favored; even Appletun would nudge your arm when the black-clad twin came back to the station.
Ah, well. As long as nobody picked up on it.
Before you knew it, your drowsy Appletun perked up and all four of your eyes zeroed in on the twins. They saluted each other, and you smiled.
Emmet turned his head and locked eyes with you, and you balked.
Emmet made a combeeline for you, and you panicked.
Your smile wavered. Why does he look so intense? Why is he coming directly at me like a Terminator? Multiple reasons raced through your mind and a conclusion was reached pretty quickly.
Oh, beans, you thought. Oh no.

Summary
The light above the door changed color to green and blinked, accompanied by two chimes, to indicate a challenger was finally incoming. They both jumped from their seats, taking their places in the middle of the car, facing the door. Ingo folded his arms behind his back while Emmet cracked his knuckles, their respective scripts memorized so thoroughly they no longer had to think about them.
