    Ten seconds is what I needed to breathe. To see the world again in black in white instead of multicolored. But every time I felt my gaze wander over, at the iridescent wings, I swore I could hardly breathe. I saw the gap that kept us apart and the smiles the prince gave, as if he had a secret and he was waiting for just the right person to tell. Then he turned, catching my gaze. Cub nudged me, a smirk delicately balanced on the rim of his cup. "Didn't know you had a thing for blondes."

    "Cub, who-"

    "Illiomon, son of Taostor, ruler of the Visum Kingdom. Favorite of the Gods. I've heard people call him Grian away from the throne."

    "Grian." I had been born anew, given a new deity to worship. "He puts the gods to shame."

    Scar followed Grian’s eyes down, shuffling the infant closer so his omega could get a better look. “She’s right here, she’s okay.” The corner of his lips twitched up into a gentle, soothing smile. “Do you want to hold her?”

    Unable to speak through his mucus filled throat, Grian nodded, outstretching his arms to create space for her. Scar held a hand to her head for support as he placed the baby in the avian’s arms gently.

    Content. Affection.

    Grian’s muscles melted at the sight of her cooing and babbling in his arms. This felt safe. It felt like home. Him, his mate and his– their baby.

     

    Fanfic of a fanfic, oneshot inspired by the fic "What to Expect When You're Not Expecting" by the one and only ScreamingFanGirl! This oneshot is a continued, days later version of chapter 19 and pretty much just the pure fluff we all would die for. Enjoy!

    Performance Issues, HotGuy?

    In recent weeks, HotGuy has been leaving much to be desired on the battlefield. It seems after many long, hard fights, he just can’t keep it up. He used to be quite anal about his victories, but now he’s had a few close calls. Could it be that his arrows just aren’t what they used to be? Is he firing blanks? I wouldn’t be surprised if his enemies are having to fake their defeat. Of course, HotGuy is far from the only man who struggles to hit the target, so maybe I shouldn’t be so harsh.
    Three of HotGuy’s record fights for injuries and collateral damage have all occurred this month, an alarming statistic in the face of the continued attacks. The root of the issue may be difficult to swallow…

    Scar let out a heavy sigh, starting to push away from his desk before pausing for a moment, shaking his head, then leaning forward again, his quill continuing to glide along the parchment. He wasn’t ready yet, surely whoever had come to collect him could wait a few minutes longer. Or a few hours. Or a few years, actually.

    It wasn’t as if he didn’t want to go on this trip. He knew just how important it was, and how privileged he was that he got to go on it, but-

    Well, it wasn’t quite what he’d been hoping for. For a powerful mage such as himself (or, well - future powerful mage, that is) this was perhaps the most important journey he’d make in his lifetime. His pilgrimage to the Crystal Fountain, the source of magic itself, the very journey he’d spent his entire life working towards. He should be excited. He was excited.

    At least, he had been, until he found out that he wasn’t to make the journey alone.

     

    Or, in which the vex prince sets out on a magical journey of a lifetime, and an unassuming avian knight is dragged along for the ride.
    (Or, in which strangers find love in the unlikeliest of places.)
