Yoonji smacks Namjoo's shoulder. “Don’t tease the baby butch,” she says.
“I wasn’t teasing!” Namjoo protests, smacking Yoonji back.
“Watch my shoulder, asshole!” Yoonji says, semi-howling, clutching her arm dramatically.
“It’s not my fault you got hit by a car!” Namjoo shoots back.
“What, you’re still mad because I didn’t tell you?”
“Yeah, maybe I am!”
“You loud fuckers,” Hobi says, smiling the smile of a secret assassin, but their bickering sounds far away, because Jungah’s mind is stuck on Yoonji, flicking her eyes over to Jungah slyly, don’t tease the baby butch. Jungah feels vulnerable, like someone’s looking underneath her skin, but there’s a thrill to it, like she and Yoonji are in on the same secret.
She thinks that Yoonji sees her. Sees her, and knows something in her, and thinks that something is good. Something that should grow, strong and green and lovely.
