    Summary

“You were loud,” he says, whispering the words through his teeth. “Sloppy.”

“And you let me do it,” Hob shoots back, dipping his chin, mouth almost a caress over Dream’s. The scent of him, of them, sparks like wildfire, and Hob wants to dig his teeth into it. “Didn’t stop me. Didn’t say a word. Just held my hair and took it.”

Dream’s breath catches. It’s quick, but Hob sees it.

“I think you liked coming apart in my hands,” Hob says, voice edged with challenge. “Tell me I’m wrong.”

Dream’s eyes flash with something too bright and too furious, a beautiful crack in that perfect, cold face of his.

(Or: The horrible ordeal of falling for the one person who always manages to get under your skin.)

    Summary

Hob leans back in his chair, a tight look in his eyes. “I think we both know why the divorce happened,” he says, a sharp edge back into his tone like earlier in the day. Except this time he seems to be painfully aware of it. “Gods, sorry.”

“No, you’re not.” Dream is surprised to find it doesn’t sound like an accusation.

Hob smiles and it’s back to being sad.

“No, I’m not.” He looks away. There’s a tick in his jaw muscle, like he wants to say more, but in the end he just sighs and stands up.

(Or: How Dream and Hob learn to heal, listen and love again.)

    Summary

“What I’m saying is— I understand.”

He catches Dream’s hand in his. His touch is careful, soft like a summer breeze. It makes Dream’s breath catch somewhere under his breastbone.

“I know how it is to live against everyone’s expectations. How to live in spite of them.”

Dream stares at their intertwined fingers, feels Hob’s pulse in his fingertips. It’s a beautiful, quiet thing; it’s the first time he’s felt quiet in ages.

(Or: Dream de Endless was suppose to be his family’s most prized jewel, but when he is taken, he loses the last thing the world considered valuable about him. Broken down to his core, he does not expect anyone to want him again. Until Robert Gadling walks into his life.)

    Summary

“I enjoyed it. It was…” he trails off, lips twitching into a smile. “Fun. But I would like to try more. With you.”

Again, Hob has to take one breath, then another, to keep from spluttering. “With me.”

Dream shrugs. “I trust you. You are my friend.” He bites at his lower lip, and Hob tries to not stare and think of how he knows exactly what Dream’s mouth tastes like. “And like you’ve said. It’s not like that. It can be. Just between friends.”

(Hob is great at sex. Dream is curious about sex. Friends with benefits is the best solution. Easy, right?)

    Summary

Sometimes the truth is like a second chance.

The ashes of the Triskelion have barely cooled when Steve arrives unbidden at Stark Tower. He doesn’t quite know what he’s looking for, so it’s a good thing someone seems to; Sharon thinks she should be getting hazard pay (she should); Phil is beginning to understand why Fury was perfectly happy to stay publicly dead; Natasha and Sam in no way signed up to be relationship counsellors and want their money back; Bucky is waiting for the other shoe to drop like an anvil on his head; and bureaucracy is as impossibly, torturously stupid as it always is. Honestly, the fine print in superhero contracts needs a lot of revision.

Or: the one in which we accidentally wrote half of (and preemptively fixed) Captain America: Civil War before D23, except gayer.

Note: For anyone who prefers waiting for WIPs to finish before reading, all substantive plot has concluded with chapter 5! 6 is essentially a (long) epilogue of pure fluff to recover from the previous 150,000 words; no major plot developments occur.
