Summary

“Now, son,” the doctor had spoken lightly as if the gentleness in his eyes wasn’t bad enough, “nobody has any say in the person whose name appears, and it’s not your fault, it—”
“Whose fucking name?” Eddie was already burning alive from the inside out. Tactful softening of the blow was an imposition he didn’t have time for.
Eddie still remembers how the doctor had sighed before he answered.
He also still remembers how hearing the sound of the name had meant that the fire scorching his body was suddenly borne of anger instead of illness—and fury? Well. Fury was something Eddie could swallow, could choke down like bile, could will away.
He’d steadied himself as much as possible, bracketing on an expressionless mask that he’d mentally resigned himself to wear for the rest of his life.
“Do you know him?” Dr. Pierce had asked, voice hardly breaking on the unfortunately humiliating pronoun.
“No."

Summary
It’s 1996.
Ten years have passed and everything has changed.
And for everyone Steve loves, it’s been for the better: Robin is elatedly working her ass off in the city, Dustin is across the country working a computer job that Steve only pretends to understand, Max and Lucas are a picture of domestic bliss off in Michigan, and Eddie is a bona fide fucking rock star.

And with Ally shoving her soft hand down his pants and into his boxers, it ought to be extremely easy to tune out the quiet sound of his roommate’s voice, saying something he can’t even hear.
But then, all of a sudden—he can hear it.
“That’s it, baby, look at you,” Eddie coos from beyond the wall. Then a condescending laugh. “Come on, honey, you can do better than that.”
Holy shit.

Summary
Steve almost whispers, “We’re, uh… we’re doing this then?”
Eddie swallows, pretends it’s not basically a gulp. He nods, pretends it’s not a little frantic.
“You’re sure?” Steve says, moving closer to Eddie as if to test the waters.
“Yes,” Eddie says.
Steve closes the rest of the distance so they’re sitting with their legs pressed against each other. He tentatively reaches out, taking hold of Eddie’s hand where it rests on his knee, like it’s the easiest way to establish physical contact.
Steve looks up at him, earnest as Eddie’s ever seen him. “You’re totally, completely, and one-hundred percent sure you want to do this?”
Eddie tries and fails not to roll his eyes and groan.
“Like I said, I am sure, so please, for the love of all that is good and holy, do not make me beg you to fuck me,” Eddie says, grateful that his voice isn’t shaking like the rest of his body.
(or: Eddie tries not to lose his ever loving mind when his best friend Steve offers to take his virginity)
