Summary
“Because I’m going to be the first.”
Something swells in his chest then – his heart perhaps, or some unnameable thing he had never known before. It was suffocating but in a way that felt welcome, peaceful and all encompassing. His breath caught in his throat and he was dazzled; by Kaveh’s golden, freckled skin, by his shimmering eyes laden with certainty and hope, by his tender touch that slid along the line of Alhaitham’s jaw now feeling the stubble that just barely begun to threaten to spring from his still soft skin.
“And you’ll be the reason.” It’s said through the spreading of a smile, all that truthful joy caught in every syllable of the word.

Bookmarker's Notes
Bloom’s outdone herself time and time again with her beautiful writing. Each piece makes you fall in love with her work more and more. This, as many other pieces before it, is a must reread.
Genuine emotion, beautiful as the story it is inspired by, and yet it gave me goosebumps and made me feel butterflies like nothing before it. Cannot wait to visit it again.

Summary
Alhaitham wants to be more physically involved in his arrangement with Kaveh, and has acquired the means to do so…but it might take more than that for him to truly feel satisfied with their relationship.
Alhaitham holds up the synthetic dick for Kaveh to see. “I—”
“Oh!” Kaveh’s eyebrows lift in surprise. “You know, Alhaitham, you should give a man some warning before you whip out your dick like that.”
“I was thinking of using this during sex. Will that work?”
“Huh? Oh, uh, yes.” Kaveh wets his lips. “That absolutely works.” His eyes briefly flick downward to Alhaitham’s groin before returning to his face. “If—if you’re comfortable being that involved, that is. Something like this would definitely require more, um…physicality.”
Yes, it would, Alhaitham thinks, a bit peeved. That’s the point.

Incredibly beautiful ending, especially in the vulnerabilty shown on both Alhaitham and Kaveh’s behalf. Something about the moment Alhaitham tears up and the confession/get together scene ties this fic so beautifully together.

Summary
Their faces are very close now. They’re both huffing, winded from the run. When Kaveh exhales, Al-Haitham can smell the mint gum he always liked to chew.
“I hate you,” Kaveh spits, but he doesn’t move away.
“I know.” Al-Haitham brings a hand up to his face. He pauses before he wipes away a tear.
Kaveh’s trembling. “You ruined me."
Al-Haitham exhales, slow and shuddery. “I know.”
Kaveh closes his eyes— “I hate that you left me.”
—and Al-Haitham kisses him.
After four long years, Al-Haitham finally returns to the idol industry.

Summary
“I’m glad you’re okay,” Al-Haitham says, throwing a sideways glance at Kaveh as he turns back towards his stack of essays. “It would’ve been pretty embarrassing to die in a library.”
“Fuck you,” Kaveh coughs.
“Sad and alone,” Al-Haitham drones, “amongst rows of old, racist philosophers.”
Kaveh groans, finally having caught his breath for the most part. “You,” he says, his voice still raspy, “are the most annoying person I’ve ever met.”
Al-Haitham snorts. “An honor.”

Summary
“Aren’t you going to knock?” Al-Haitham continues before Kaveh can form the words to berate him. “You've been standing there for quite some time.”
“I-I was about to before you came.”
Al-Haitham nods. He looks at Kaveh straight in the eye. “Go on.”
Kaveh frowns and falls silent. He turns to face the closed door again. A heartbeat, and then two. He senses Al-Haitham moving forward, climbing the small steps until he stands under the eaves beside Kaveh. His shoulder nearly touches Kaveh's.
Then, in a turn of events Kaveh would never foresee, he takes Kaveh’s hand. At the same time, the door swings open.
Or, Kaveh goes to Fontaine for his sister's birthday.
