The scalpel is sterile, still in it’s packaging, and very very cold in comparison to his sweaty, slippery skin. He does wonder, with the fuzzy detachment of trying not to think about it, whether that will make this hurt less.

Summary
Squirrel hybrid Kim Hongjoong knows what to expect from humans - exploitation, abuse, inhumanity. He will never trust humans again, not even the kind workers at the shelter where he is taken after his rescue from the lab.
Then Hongjoong is adopted by a librarian called Park Seonghwa. Seonghwa is kind, gentle and seemingly perfect. He treats Hongjoong like he is precious, like he matters.
The temptation to trust Seonghwa is strong, but Hongjoong knows that his kind act is only skin deep. Sooner or later, Hongjoong will find a way to make him angry, to make him show his true colours.

Summary
Yeosang had long since developed a habit of sticking his nose where it didn't belong, and he should be as grateful as he is equally terrified that such a habit has only just now come back to bite him once he's left tied above the mantel in a hardened hunter's home - put on living display as Song Mingi's most recent and most coveted prize yet.
Alternatively; Yeosang knew better than to bite the hand that feeds him, but rather than being given the grace of showing Mingi his gratitude for sparing his life on his chosen terms, it becomes increasingly apparent that the hunter has his own ideas in mind for how Yeosang should be made to pay back his newfound debt.
