Summary
Trust value is a very fickle thing, that much Lin Ling already knows. It is especially so in the world of heroes. Even the slightest snowball thrown can have a ripple effect that can either be catastrophic or ideal for said hero. Still, he can't say he wasn't even a little bit alarmed when he woke up to a whole moving crew hauling the giant statue of the previous Nice—with tomatoes still on its face—into a platform.

AKA a fic inspired by the poll currently being held of the TBHX characters where X and Nice are constantly fighting for top spot. The floors end up being a communal spot and people end up either enemies or friends. Enjoy the fic I wrote on a whim in less than 30 minutes after coming back home delirious from school.

He’d barely stepped back into the threshold of the main floor when Ms. J had appeared out of thin air in front of him, index finger and thumb massaging her head as she looked at her phone. Before Lin Ling could get a peep out, she was already saying, “You’re going back down.”
Lin Ling had simply blinked.
“What?”
“You’ve been demoted to Rank Number 2 again. X needs this floor, get out,” she explained, jabbing a thumb towards the general direction of the personal elevator.(aka au where a mysterious Trust Rank website pops up and X and Nice keep switching ranks and consequentially, floors. Lin Ling wasn't sure what he expected the renowned X to be like but after being told they have to just share the floor, he guessed he'll find out)

The guy grins and wipes his hands on a towel before turning to the register. “What can I get you? You’ve never been here, right? I think I’d remember a skyscraper walking in.”
X huffs out a soft laugh despite himself. “Yes, first time. I smelled something good on my way to work.”
“Oh? Then you have good instincts,” the guy says, then leans slightly forward on his elbows like he’s about to tell him a secret. “Everything’s fresh. And I always put out the really good stuff in the early morning.”
X’s mouth opens. His brain says something stupid along the lines of ‘you're really good stuff so early in the morning’, but his mouth, blessedly, filters it into, “What do you recommend?”
The guy straightens. “Depends. What do you like?”
Cute guys with brown hair and cat pins on their aprons. X hesitates. His eyes are tracing the boy’s features, the flour on the forearms, the smile that’s a little too bright for this early in the morning and that creases beneath his eyes. He smells like vanilla and butter when X breathes in.
“Sweet,” he hears himself say instead. “Really sweet.”
