"Gwyneth", he begged as he tried to touch her but she shook her head. Her hands were shaking and her eyes were red rimmed. She glared at him. And those adoring eyes didn't seem to look at him in admiration anymore instead it was filled with blatant hatred, "Don't". One word. Never had Azriel ever been cut down with just one word. Then she ran away from him. And the pain that rumbled in his chest intensified but he didn't shout for her. He didn't stop her. He didn't run behind her. He didn't do anything. -

Azriel channeled his centuries as Spymaster into keeping his voice level, disinterested.
“Oh, you haven’t heard?” Nesta snickered, sharing a grin with Emerie. “Gwyneth has been experimenting, working through her trauma and getting comfortable with… you know.” She winked and Azriel forced his face to stay neutral.
Inside he burned. The warmth in his chest that connected him to Gwyn, had connected him to her since it snapped into place when he pulled her from the desecrated remains of her temple, was an inferno. Azriel watched the unknown male’s hand slide further down his mate’s back as they left Rita’s. He drained his glass and pulled his shadows close before they could betray his feelings, and forced his lips to smirk.
