Set in 1800s Victorian Europe.

To refine his creature, Adam, into a man fit for society, Victor enlists the help of Elizabeth Harlander, his brother William’s fiancée and the woman Victor secretly desires. Elizabeth, trapped in an engagement to a man who sees her more as ornament than partner, begins to lose faith in her future marriage. As she teaches Adam language, manners, and humanity, she finds herself drawn to him, emotionally, spiritually, and dangerously.
Her growing affection for Adam does not go unnoticed. Consumed by jealousy, fear, and wounded pride, Victor becomes determined to destroy the bond forming between them… even if it means sabotaging Adam’s transformation, Elizabeth’s happiness, and the fragile life he has built.

Often it is caused by the shift in hormones, traumatic pregnancy, and a already established history of mental health issues. Such a condition causes a mother figure to feel intense disassociation, lack of empathy, inability to bond with child, and far more intense reactions that could put the child in harm's way.
