You, the reader, wake up as a young child on the shores of the Boiling Isles after a brush with death in your own world. Unaware of where you are and how you got here, you must piece together the moments that lead you here while navigating this strange and fantastical world.

What is a reader-interactive fanfiction? It means that YOU get to make choices that affect where the story goes! Instead of clicking the "Next Chapter" button, there'll be a piece of text with a link to the next chapter in the route you're on. If there's a choice, there'll be a link to the chapter in each new branch.
This is entirely experimental. I don't know who, if anyone, will enjoy this... *gestures vaguely*. I'll warn you that this may look like a mess, especially at first while nothing is complete. Speaking of complete, I'll have a comprehensive list of what overarching routes/branches are in-progress or complete, as well as who's available for romancing/befriending, in the first (hub) chapter. I may also post polls about potential relationship options/ending options/new routes, so I'd recommend checking back to the hub chapter from time to time.

“What was that?” Haley says, idly wrapping a strand of her hair around her finger. She imagines Leah’s hands braiding her hair, separating it, pushing each curl away from her face, soft and gentle and a type of intimacy she’s never let herself have.
(There are many things Haley has asked for, and there are many things Haley has wanted; many things she has ached for. The two rarely overlap.)
“I asked,” Leah says, a little clearer, “if you would do my make-up. For the party. I’ve got this character I want to dress up as, and…” she trails off, waving her hand in the air.
Haley tilts her head, as if imagining it. In truth, she already knows what she will say. She has never been able to say no to Leah; rarely, in fact, has she allowed herself to say no to anyone. “Oh, I suppose I could do that. But I want a deal.”
