Summary
From the dawn of quirks one simple fact was clear. Only women received them. Men were born quirkless without fail. Over time they lost their social standing and became targets of abuse to many, with much of the dwindling male populations forming their own societies away from the rest of the world. This has left very few men existing in mainstream society.
So when Inko and Hisashi Midoriya give birth to a boy, they decide they're going to do everything they can to keep his confidence alive and encourage him to strive for his goals, even if they're to become a hero. "All Men Are Not Created Equal".
It's a killer opening line, so it's a shame that MHA does almost nothing with that idea once the plot actually gets going. When I first started MHA, I expected it to be about Midoriya trying to make it as a Quirkless hero-in-training, using his intelligence and determination to make up for the sometimes massive disadvantage of not having superpowers. It ended up not being that, so I'm writing that story instead.
