Her hands slid down to rest on Elphaba’s thigh, her touch warm even through the thin fabric of her nightgown. Their faces were now only inches apart.
“Well?” Galinda said, her voice holding a playful lilt as she leaned in just a little closer. “Go on, Elphie. Flirt some more. I’m enjoying this new side of you.”
Elphaba of course was speechless. All she could manage was a dry, audible gulp, which only made Galinda’s grin widen.

Galinda stomped to her desk and collapsed into her chair with a dramatic huff. “Since you'd rather read than listen to your best friend, I’ll just go back to writing then!” She huffed again, louder. Just in case Elphaba didn’t hear it the first time.
"Fine.” Elphaba said, crossing the room to sit directly in front of Galinda on the floor. She rested an elbow on both of Galinda's knees and popped her chin lazily on one arm.
