Summary
So while we all knew that the 2020 written in the book would be glorious fiction, we didn’t realize that reality would throw us something to take 2020 even further away from the book’s events. This story is where I attempt to merge our 2020 reality and the fiction of RWRB, using research (a LOT of research) to try to figure out what the trajectory of reality might have been. The story starts picking up the timeline after their late-February trip to Paris. After that, it's strictly AU, but I try to keep a lot of the intents of the events in the book (for instance, Alex's trip to confront Henry in Britain after the lake) while still making them fit the narrative I've created.
Title is from one of the best ever Bowie songs, and the lyrics are so fucking beautiful and perfect for these two.

Summary
Alex is a somewhat disillusioned actor who finally lands the project of his dreams: a story that matters, directed by one of his idols, Rafael Luna. The only problem is that the screenwriter is Henry Fox, who can’t seem to stand Alex, and who Alex would love to shove into a cake. Neither of them expect the way working together will change both of their lives forever. Or, five times Henry Fox, screenwriter with the hottest script in town, talked about Alexander Claremont-Diaz, up-and-coming actor, and one time Alex talked about him right back.
“Up to the challenge?” Alex says, and then says it again, just in case Zahra missed it. “Up to the challenge?”
“It’s a perfectly normal quote, Alex, especially since you haven’t really met Henry Fox before,” Zahra says.
“Uh, we’ve met, Z,” Alex shoots back. “Or, I tried to meet him and congratulate him on his script like two years ago at that amfAR benefit and he looked at me like I was some sort of unwanted sentient mud and walked away, remember?”

ACD: I just wanted to send my message in a bottle, if they were ever wondering whether they were the reason, whether I was still waiting for them, whether they still have a place in my life.
I had a few one-night stands, but I never found a way to commit to anyone, not when my mind kept thinking about their eyes, their hands, their touch, their voice in the dark. No one could ever compare.
Dave: But why now after all this time? Like, haven’t they moved on? Did you keep tracks on them?
ACD: I just think that they might be ready to take their chance now. Or maybe I’m just delusional.or ACD is a famous singer-songwriter who never performed his most popular song because the person he wrote it for (Henry) asked him not to.
