Summary
The whole town couldn’t seem to stop talking about her coming. The immune girl. The one who brought them the cure. Dina doesn’t know what she thinks about it and she assumes the girl must be insufferable if people always talk about her like that.
And the girl is definitely what she expected when Dina finally sees her.
OR
Dina gets the cure several days after her 18th birthday. She is 20 when Ellie moves to Jackson. A canon divergent AU where Ellie reached the Fireflies in Salt Lake, stayed there for four years and shows up in Jackson with her meathead best friend in tow.

Summary
Ellie has a long way to go to find peace after all the violence and loss. Dina loves her, but has her own wounds heal. There are still far too many things unspoken between them, and Joel's memory still lingers above it all.
Picking up right at the end of Part II and told through a mixture of journal entries/letters and narrative, this is the story of the year following Ellie's return to Jackson: the consequences she must face, the people she left behind, the difficulty of closure, and the slow road to learning that there are many ways for a life to matter. Aiming for a realistic portrayal of trauma and its collateral damage, but will eventually have a happy ending.

Summary
She doesn't want to talk about it, that winter on the road with Joel. She can’t stomach the idea of Dina seeing her that way, seeing her as a scared, pitiful kid, hungry and crying on the ground from fear and frustration. The thought that Dina might pity her, even for a second, is too much. No fucking way.
