Strangely enough, they seem to… enjoy talking about Johnny. Kenshi supposes it makes sense— he was the previous owner of Sento, as he likes to consistently remind everyone. He fought with the blade before trading it for Kenshi’s after he was blinded.

Smoke must have severely pissed off an Elder God. That was the only reasonable explanation for what he’s been subjected to.
If he had to hear Kenshi wax poetry about Johnny one more time, with no regard for the other poor, Japanese-speaking souls in the area (Tomas), he was going to waltz right over to wherever the Lin Kuei was holed up and surrender. Surely it couldn’t be any worse than putting up with.. this.

Summary
Kenshi isn't exactly sure when it all changed. If he had to guess, it was somewhere between searching for an evil sorcerer and running for their lives. The specifics having been lost to him amidst the agony when his sight was brutally taken from him. All he knows is that at some point the taunts and jabs turned into careful touches and encouragement.
