Qiao Ling finally comes to a stop, sighing with a small tremble. “Lu Guang,” she calls in a whisper, and he tries to look at her. She looks tired, stressed. Sad. He failed her. It shouldn't be her burden. “Have you thought about what I said?” she asks, and he looks away. “Have you told him?”
She already knows the answer to her questions, so Lu Guang stays quiet.

“I wasn’t ready,” he tries, grip tightening when Cheng Xiaoshi tries to take the controller from him. “One more time.”
“Go for it, then, but I hope you're prepared to lose.” Cheng Xiaoshi laughs again, letting the controller go and pressing his forehead to Lu Guang’s shoulder as he shakes, grinning. He’s so warm. Has he always been this touchy?
Could Lu Guang have been making him smile like this in every timeline since the first? Looking hurts his chest. He squeezes the controller a little tighter. “...Everyone needs a few tries to succeed.”
