It had been two days since Beomgyu had heard from Taehyun. He was getting worried, and he’d knocked on Taehyun’s door several times without receiving any answer. On his way home from work, he decided to try one last time.
He knocked as loudly as he could. There was a subtle scent on the air that Beomgyu didn’t recognize. It wasn’t until the door opened that he got a full blast of it, and he almost passed out. Taehyun was standing just on the other side of the threshold wearing an old hoodie of Beomgyu’s. He smelled like strawberries and cream, a surprisingly sweet scent that made Beomgyu swallow heavily.“Taehyun-ah,” he finally managed to say. “I was getting worried. You weren’t answering my texts.”
Taehyun nodded, shifting a little and looking uncomfortable. “It’s– it’s my pre-heat.” -

Taehyun didn’t even bother to look up at Beomgyu, onto his next phone task, opening his email app and deleting spam. “It’s a mission? I didn’t know we were filming today.”
“No, it’s not a mission.” He paused, and the sound around them seemed to swallow his voice. The wind hit the cold spot where Beomgyu had wet Taehyun with water. “It’s not a mission. I just wanted to.”
“You wanted to give me a kiss?” Taehyun clarified, and Beomgyu nodded, resting his weight on one arm. Taehyun shrugged, leaning forward and tilting his face so that Beomgyu had better access to his cheek. “Okay, do it.”
“Not there,” Beomgyu said, smiling, and Taehyun leaned back into the chair, looking at him, waiting for more explanation. But Beomgyu offered none, so Taehyun went back to his phone.

In a quick flick of his hand, it is signed, and their union is finalized. His signature a permanent black mark on the paper, officiating them as partners, husbands. Taehyun’s heart pounds as he watches the other sign his own name, nervous and anticipating, knowing that this is for the best. That their deal has more benefits than repercussions, unlike the stupid family tradition he has.
Taehyun was 21 years old when he signed that contract. Beomgyu was 22.
Taehyun is marrying him for his dream, and Beomgyu is marrying him for his convenience.
And from then on, they’re husbands on paper.
