“Hey, Buck,” Ravi says, and Eddie nearly kicks him under the table. Don’t say it, he begs him in his mind. Do not say it.
“Yeah?” Buck asks.
“What are your thoughts on having a sugar daddy?”
Eddie doesn’t stick his head in his hands and groan, but it’s a near thing. Instead, he gives into the urge and kicks Ravi under the table.
Buck moves into a shitty apartment following his move from the Diaz household. Eddie starts buying him nice things to make up for it.

“Victim is Charles Dumont. Three gunshot wounds to the chest. Looks like an attempted robbery. There was a case of bourbon with a bottle missing and we found Charlie’s wallet tossed a few blocks from here. And Eddie?” Athena stopped just as she got to the door and turned him with a serious expression on her face. “There’s a witness.”
Her frown dipped under the professional mask she was known for and Eddie caught the flicker of concern pulling at her composure.
“You know him?”
Athena pressed her lips into a tight line and nodded.
“Evan Buckley. He’s the bartender here. He was helping Charlie restock tonight when he heard a noise and saw it happen.”
Homicide Detective, Eddie Diaz, is called in to investigate the murder of a local shield and ladder bar owner. There he meets his only witness, Evan "Buck" Buckley.

“I’m sorry, I don’t believe we’ve met.” Eddie says, and Buck glances back to look at him because he recognises that sickly sweet tone. His suspicions are confirmed when he catches the wicked glint in his husband’s eyes and he sighs internally. Eddie always was a possessive bastard (in the most affectionate way possible). “I’m Staff Sergeant Eddie Diaz, Buck’s husband.”
The not-so-casual drop of his title, combined with the fact that he’s still dressed in his combat uniform (well, t-shirt and trousers but it’s enough) shouldn’t be as hot as Buck finds it but, hey, he’s a simple man.
