    For Blake Belladonna, life was fine. She’d fulfill her role as a dutiful college student while also working as a diligent barista in her free time. A decent cash flow, unlimited tea to drown in, and her best friend as a shift partner to help her deal with the more insufferable patrons - what was there to complain about?

    But she couldn’t help the pull in her heart that would have her sneaking out before dawn to climb onto the roof of her dorm and play music on her beloved guitar. Sure, it was at the cost of losing precious sleep, but it was worth it to have a sanctuary where she could be free to release the music within her.

    She’s not like the students that perform at the café’s open mic night. She could never lay her heart bare in front of a bunch of strangers, letting them judge her skills - her joy.

    But then a girl with locks of molten gold stepped foot inside the coffee shop, making Blake question just how fine her life really was.

    “Nineteen,” Yang says. Blake nods, the confusion on her face disappearing. She reaches out with one hand and lays it atop Yang’s prosthetic. Gently, she guides Yang’s hand down so that there isn’t a gun in her face anymore. Yang doesn’t fight her. “How old are you?” Yang asks. Blake sighs, shakes her head, half-smiles.

    “Thirty-two."
