Even six years after The Visitor left, it's hard to try to be normal. People keep reminding you how weird, scary, or ugly you are, and your body doesn't let you forget that either. At least you still have your childhood friend who's been there with even before The Visitor came. It gives you a sense of normalcy in the abnormal.

Due to time relativity and the oddities of space and astrophage radiation, Grace has grown younger, and his aging has stagnated. Something Rocky is grateful for, but also something that will bring a lot of misunderstandings for Grace. Such as being Rocky's new alien pebble.

This Is Fine. This is totally, completely, utterly fine.(Grace sounds like a pebble. This, alongside Eridian's extended lifespans, kicks off a chain of misunderstandings that Grace would find utterly mortifying if he knew what the heck was going on.)

Let it not be said that Adrian was not devoted as well. They had stood firm, a loyal widower longer than others could fathom. Once you encountered a love like Rocky’s, there could be no replacement. Nothing could even compare.
‘Do you understand that?’ Adrian wanted to ask. So desperately, they wanted the alien’s reply. ‘Are you the only other creature in the universe who understands what it is like to be loved by someone so completely?’

Adrian meets Grace several times, before Grace is healthy enough to meet them in return. Despite light-years of distance between their species, Adrian might have finally met the first other being who appreciates Rocky like they do; or so they hope.
