That night he had not slept.
He had lain in his cot instead, eyes fixed on the ceiling and gaze too distant to notice how moonlight had slowly trailed her fingers on the walls, how light had shifted from silver to grey to pale gold. Dawn had come and found Mike restless on top of his still-made bed, middle and index finger pressed against his lips – a whole night spent reliving and sifting through the same memories and yet it still felt unreal, too dreamlike to have been true.
When dawn had come to caress Mike’s cheek, rosy-fingered and warm, she had found resolution in his heart and a foolish, foolish plan firmly rooted in his mind.

Summary
“Mike,” Will admonishes, flustered, but Mike only smiles against his skin.
“Missed you,” Mike answers. Will did not ask, and they’ve only been apart for less than a day, but it’s no less true. He feels whole again, the strain in his muscles and joints all but forgotten in favor of the reunion they fought for.
Will gets taken to a dragon's keep. Mike gets him back.

That’s untrue. The only covenant that strong in their Party lies squarely between their Bard and Ranger, and even then, the two often try to test its bounds. The only seal between Cleric and Paladin rests between hands and welcome, of vows in health and happiness. They would face the rest together.
