Summary
I have no right to own integrity. I kill liars for money. And Vi will never know it.
If only she could explain to Cait the seriousness of what she does, the truth of why things happen the way they do.

Summary
Watching the Kiramman matriarch step with a bloodshot eye into a duty that demanded prompt address and efficient execution has, these days, stirred in Vi a persistent reflection on roles that outlast the people who once upheld them, on pillars passing the weight of structure to the next in line, of perpetual substitutions that preserve tradition through endless cycles.

Summary
It dawns on Caitlyn then that this kind of closeness feels different because it has never lasted this long. It was usually a means to an end, the natural prelude to an incoming hug, or destined to end in a kiss, but never meant to be prolonged without further action. Perhaps it is that novel intimacy that is the culprit behind the rush of heat in Caitlyn’s cheeks, but if Vi notices, she gives no sign.

Summary
“Besides,” Vi says airily after a moment, a teasing tone creeping into her voice. “She’s not my type.”
Caitlyn rolls her eyes. “Since when do you have a type?”
“Since I met you.”

Summary
“The views from the mountain are spectacular this time of year.” Her father had set the album in her lap with it opened to a photo of Caitlyn and her mother tossing handfuls of seed into the grass and laughing as a flock of hungry birds descended on them from above. “I’m certain Vi would love the villa just as much as you always have.” With a hand on her shoulder and a kiss on the top of her head, he’d smiled and added, “I think the two of you have more than earned a bit of rest. Even a brief one. Wouldn’t you agree?”
So, that’s how Caitlyn found herself elbow deep in neatly folded clothing the day after her wedding, with Vi humming quietly as she packed her own bag beside her.
***
Caitlyn and Vi spend a few weeks alone at the family villa in the mountains for their honeymoon. And after all the chaos that has followed them throughout their lives so far, such a soft and sweet interlude is welcome for the both of them.
This is a continuation of my previous fics Something to Get Used To and To Be Known as Yours, but can be read as a standalone story as well.

Summary
“Caitlyn.”
“Oh,” Jinx says knowingly, glancing Vi’s way out of the corner of her eye. “That’s the, uh, the cop girl, right? Maddie’s ex?”
A chorus of mutters and nods is the response.
“I’m being warned about her,” Vi tells her sister and Jinx blows her bangs out of her face.
“Good,” she says, almost snappishly. “Yeah, don’t date cop girl. You should date someone cool.”
“I’m not going to date anyone, not for a while. I need to get back on my feet first,” says Vi, drumming her fingers against the condensation of the glass. Thinking of Cupcake in her contacts, and that teasing smile.
Everything in Vi’s life right now is starting over. She’s spending the holidays on her sister’s pull-out futon, trying to make sense of the avalanche of changes, salvage what’s left of her family and figure out what she’s going to do next. The last thing she expects to do is include the beautiful woman she runs into on her first day in town, or this Caitlyn that everyone’s warning her to stay away from.
